Default Sweet 17 and Sweet 223 scopes

Just wondering if anybody out there has/is using these for their .17 cal or
.223 cal. They seem fairly inexpensive, so im a little shy to buy one. How accurate are they and to what range? Thanks for any input

I have a Sweet 17 on my 17 hmr. It works great for me but for shooting gophers it's all that I need optics wise. The bullet drop compensating dial seems to work fine but to tell you the truth, with the flat shooting bullet, is it really required? I'm accurate out to 200 yds, 300 yds in ideal conditions. If there's any wind it'll blow that tiny bullet of course past 200 yds though. I seem to have a good scope but other people have said that they absolutely suck. It's seems to be hit and miss with these scopes. They are inexpensive though and there are some pretty good deals on ebay.

I've never had one, looked at them and handled them when I bought my .17...took a pass. A friend just bought a used savage with one on it, and he couldn't take it off fast enough. He absolutely hated it, particularily the eye relief and poor light transmission. My opinion...the .17 is such a great little calibre it deserves decent glass. I've got a Bausch and Lomb Elite 4200 on mine, and it's great.

Can't speak to the .223, but expect it's the same.....

I've got the Bushnell equivalent, Banner dusk and dawn on my .17 ( sweet 17 is made by B.S.A I think). Anyway, I hated that scope the first 3 or 4 times shooting gophers. Actually was ready to look for something else. Went on a spur of the moment gopher day before I got it replaced, started really paying attention to the scope and trying to adjust it properly. Now I wouldn't trade it. Gophers at 150 / 200 yards and more on calm days. Lots of people don't like Bushnell ,but for $100 you can't go too far wrong.

I have a friend with a sweet 223 and it is super accurate to 600+ yards. Can easily hit 8 inch rocks at 600 yards.
