A couple days after the Kenow fire , fire fighters lit up a big portion of Bertha Mt that wasn’t burnt. This may prove to be very important to saving the townsite. Those guys were thinking ahead.

There can't be much fuel left for a fire after last year.

Way back, we had major fires that burned the entire Eastern Slopes. Same thing, but now they're happening in bits and pieces, due to all the fire suppression since then.

With all of these fires I'm starting to wonder if ole Mother Nature isn't taking care of the pine beetle problem herself. I don't know much about pine bettles, but can they survive this amount of fire?

Stay safe everyone. To the residence of Waterton, I wish you nothing but the best

I hope the forecast holds for rain. Crazy to see another fire In that area. starting to have flashbacks from last years fire. I do feel the town is less threatened by this fire as it would run into where the previous fire burned. I can't imagine there would be a ton of fuel left for it to move through. The threat will come if it moves around the south end of the lake and then comes north. Need the infamous waterton winds to stay down.

Crypt lake , chief mountain, belly river were all untouched by the fire last year. Big timber and very dry. Starting to get some rain tonight, hope it lasts.
