Smoking New Year’s Eve dinner ??
Tryed the yoder,,,,no go
Tryed the Jim Bowie GMG,,,,no go
Tryed the Davey Crockett GMG,,,,no go
Well,, the ole Bradley fired right up!!!!!!
I finally found a situation where I would have used a stick burner, minus 30 is too cold for the fans and motors on the electric pellet smokers.
Mexican tower of pork and pulled pork may be saved yet
Happy New Years to you all

I have been marinating a brisket for about 5 days now because it's been too cold to smoke, if it is still good I am likely going to put the Bradley on my welding table and put my exhaust smoke fan on top of it, run it in the garage. I wish I could put a speed control on the exhaust fan, but don't think it will work for that motor. Of course a few more days it will be -10, -7 but I don't know how long I can leave the meat in the fridge.
Good thing is I can monitor it with a wifi cam, and have a wifi enabled wall plug that I can turn off if things go south.

My gmg has been working this past week but it's definitely slow to start. I covered it with a welding blanket to help keep some heat in. I was also thinking of warming it up first with a tiger torch but didn't need to. I held it at 190 to do a brisket, 220 to do burgers. Don't know if it would've got much hotter.

My home made smoker worked fine the other day as I smoked up 18 lbs. of jerky. No fans or motors just plain old natural gas. Kept temps up to 220 degrees.

I did baby back ribs yesterday on the BGE. Outdoor temp -31, BGE had no problem maintaining 225 for 4 and a half hours. Mmmm I love smoked ribs with home made BBQ sauce. Yum, too bad there was no left overs.

I went with 200 F until brisket was 165 F then wrap in foil with a few Apple wedges and throw it in the oven at 250 until brisket is 200 and let rest covered for an hour.

Smoked elk Meat Loaf tonight. Don't for see any issues with the cold. My Ceramic PRIMO OVAL XL works in any temperature. Gone are my days of frustration trying to get the Bradley up to temp at 0C outside temp!
