Default SVT-40 re-finish - before and after

Hey guys and gals,

I refinished my Russian SVT-40 1940r stock.

What do you think:

Before:

SVT40 before medium res final.jpg

After:

SVT40 medium res.jpeg

In your opinion, would the rifle increase or decrease in value?

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

First of all, I think it looks great.
I don't think it will have any effect on the value.
If a surplus russian gun had much for collector value, the re finish would reduce its value.
Since they're not exactly rare, this finish might appeal to some people, and they'd be willing to pay the going rate for it, even with the original finish gone.
This is only my opinion (which usually isn't worth Jack Schmidt), and I hope there is no offense taken to it. It's quite striking in the new finish.

Would love to see bigger pictures or a close up.

Kinda cool with the new finish as you can really see the construction of the stock.

Value depends on the buyer. Market dictates the price.

Thanks I appreciate the honesty!

I don't know how to get higher resolution pictures attached. How can I attach higher res?

I can get some amazing looking pics if you want, but forum limits jpeg to low resolution unfortunately. Unless there's a way around that.

Let me know!

Thanks,

Dewey cox is bang on.
Refinishing a firearm which is not rare, might get you more for your buck, as it might draw some attention not being original. If this were a matching numbered non refirbished Enfield, id be upset. Gun looks great.
