Default Selling Sheds

Hey

Had a death in the family and he was one heck of shed collector. So we have three sheds full. What is the legality on selling and if legal who purchases?

As long as they were naturally shed, you’re good to go. With the sort of pile, I would shop them around to a few buyers. Could be worth quite a bit. Try Kijiji for a few options.

I believe I have seen an ad in the hunting regs and possibly here on AO for a local company that is buying dropped antlers. They will pay a premium for large collections. Depending on the kind of antler and grade. If you are going through them and find big sets they could have good value. Be sure to check recent dropped antler prices online.

I had a shoulder mount done with a set of 192 typical WT dropped antlers. Taxidermist supplied the cape. I have since sold the mount, which didn't require a permit or waiting period.

Lots of shed buyer's these days. I've donated sheds to the SWF here is sask and its a tax deductible which is good and goes to a very good cause. Am sure Alberta has something like this.

The crab is very cool. Don't mean to derail or sideline the o.p's post but I got a nice collection of beautiful dark brown moose sheds that have been kept out of the sun that are out of central alberta so lots of character (drop tines etc.) If any artists are interested p.m me or if there is a custom carver that can carve me up something cool without taking years to get my horns back get ahold of me I'm in central alberta. Don't wanna sell them for a dog to chew on.

There is an AO member called "antlercarver". He was looking to mentor someone in carving a while back. I was considering it but he lives too far away.
He may be interested.

Thanks red. Always thought I'd have the time to turn them into masterpieces as I am fairly artistic but it just ain't happenin and as I said they are exceptional in quality and not just big paddles. Lots have the big fronts and long tines and drop tines. The right guy could carve something very complex.
