Default Mako has a new playmate today, male littermate has sold to a FT home

She is playing hard to get as growled and barked at him when I brought him in to meet her but who can blame her she is the same size as his head.
[IMG][/IMG]

Heard about an Amateur FTC breeding in early December but by the time I got in touch with them all the pups from Bob James breeding Amber to Bulrush Buddy were spoken for. I left my name with Bobs daughter as he is winter training in California and I explained to her I trialed with Bob 30 years ago. She called me back two weeks ago to see if I was still interested because she was potentially cancelling one of the confirmed purchasers and my choice of a fiesty female would be available.

Since Mako wouldnt leave the kitchen she took a defensive position on my wifes lap and continued warning him to not take another step towards her!

Mako meet Ram River Rain:

Now that the big guy is gone I can get back to important stuff:

Aaaaaw...if she was any cuter, she'd be a Britt!

Nice pup, Rob. Those white toes would seem to be a bit unusual for a pure Golden.

Default Alacringa

yeah in the show circles they would probably deduct her a couple points for the white marking (or the show people would stain them with tea) but these are field trial goldens going back 4 and 5 generations and we dont care about white splashes on head chest or toes. My all time best field golden had a white blaze on his head but it never stopped him from winning a trial. Think the Brits are tough about white markings on a golden but the Americans tolerate it without penalty. As long as they retrieve it is all good.

K9data pedigree attached on Rain as there was just a thread on interpreting field titles
http://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=495748

Mako's is very similar so I can anticipate what we will ultimately get if I do my part

great looking pup, Rob!
We still have to set a day for the siblings playdate, and then I can come and meet the little critter in person.

Default Anytime Jim

I am usually here, give a call to make sure and head on over. I would love to see Lexi and Mako work some birds together. I suspect from the feet Rain will be more Lexis size and speed

Default Just talked to the breeder

She had the dominant male of the litter placed with a family who had dog experience but wasn't prepared for the alpha male so returned him.
If you can handle training the pick of the litter in a hard going male alpha golden I will pass on the breeders contact info to you. Pups are $1500 with a written health guarantee on hips eyes EIC and SNS.
Amateur field trail champions on both sides so these dogs require work are high and aggressive on birds. My little female at just under 8 weeks is retrieving short retrieves to hand and always wants more.

You just broke my heart with this post. Ive been searching HARD for an actual working golden to join the family. However, the alpha male routine doesn't suit me, as I already have a hard working alpha male Chesapeake that weighs in (While in top shape) at 112 lbs. I don't care how 'Alpha' the golden is, he doesn't win that battle.....ever. Ha. I will have to keep searching. Nonetheless....great looking pup and good on you for continuing with one of the great historic retriever breeds.

Im still surprised so many guys go with labs as their upland dogs and as secondary waterfowl dogs when the Golden has a much better nose.

Default Wildside

I dont see a puppy being any threat to the alpha chessie and raised together they could be great partners. The father of this litter is North American all time High point open all age golden "Buddy" who completed the national at 11 years old. He weighs in at about 80 pounds of solid muscle

Don't sweat the dog being high. Bud isn't high. Bud wins trials by being intelligent. Old fashioned retriever. Works from your hip, watches you, marks well and handles like a Ferrari F12.

Dang dog could drive the truck home if you asked him too.

You won't regret a Bulrush/Ram River pup. Plus the support network in training would be worth about 1000x what you pay for the dog.

I am sure a long time ago Ron and I needed a dog that could drive us home from trials. High is a relative term, spirited? I love it in my female she is so spunky she keeps my wife laughing.
I will try to PM you the flyer and K9 data on this litter but might need your email as I am not sure the links and pictures of the parents will transfer on PM

Looks great WWBirds! Of course you know that I'm partial to the reddish coats with white markings.

My pup is sight retrieving a training dummy in a field out to about 20 yards now, on a check cord. Thanks for the tips when we met!
