Default Magpie mob attach

Doing my afternoon hike and came across a mob of magpies on the trail. Once I put them up I can see a ruffed grouse running off into the bush. Most of the skin on its neck ripped and hanging. A second grouse off in the bush was trying to catch up with the first. after a couple of minutes the magpies were dropping into the bush about 30' feet in, I assume to finish the task. Brutal. If it wasn't a city park, I'd be tempted to thin them out.

I saw a raven attack a large Columbian ground squirrel on my property last spring...it was brutal! The ground tried to fight the raven off while on his back the whole time. The raven aimed decisive beak jabs at the squirrel's head. The process took well over 10 minutes but the ground squirrel finally succumbed. It took the raven all of thee minutes to dismember and eat the squirrel, leaving only bits of intestine on the site. Nature can be brutal. Don't tell the lefties, they may want to register all ravens

Default Magpie Pie

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm good . I dispatch every magpie , crow , raven
I see around here . You should see what they do to baby songbirds .
Your right every buddy has to eat , more crow ragout , senor.
I use to grind them up and make into suet , feed it back to the
Winter birds . Then I started to think , birds fed to birds
Mad Grosbeak Waxwing disease .....you just can't win
If God won't protect the weak , than who will .
Sometimes it's a thankless job being a divine instrument.
