I'm with Ken,
There's some animals that truly are better off in the wild in my eyes,
They aren't just trophies waiting to be stuffed.
I don't want to raise my kids in a world where I can't drive to banff and see wildlife and have to go to the zoo instead.
Some of them are mighty fine eating, but that cat, looks like it is right where it belongs

great pics. first one looks like it just left a fresh kill from the blood on her face. she was very interested in your camera, or maybe she's a showoff. looked like some hide damage on her back.

That was my thought too and the scar on her back would be from the male that caused the swelling.

Beautiful cat, I've only ever seen one in the wild before with my own eyes. Truly majestic animals

Will be looking forward to the pics of that trip to Banff with your kids when they are able to see a cougar. Pretty sure you could go every weekend for the next 15yrs and have no luck, they usually aren't along the side of the highway or just outside the fudge shop. Just sayin. Maybe you are a hard core hiker when you go and see far more than most, but willing to bet 99.9% of people only see the animals near the road. So, pretty sure if this ended up on some lucky hunters wall it would not be depriving your kids of viewing it. Just felt like responding because the statement was odd to me, also 3am and 3hrs to go, lol. Cheers

He said wildlife, never specified anything about just seeing a cougar

Cougar meat is actually quite tasty, and surprisingly it isn't a red meat like deer or moose but a white meat like a pork chop or turkey breast. And it is consider mighty fine eating by many people.
