This could be said for pretty much all bullets, example I ran Sierra bullets out of my STW shot a buck at about 100 yards in the shoulder bullet literally blew up like a varmint bullet, shoulder completely wrecked and he went for a run luckily I got another into his ribs and he went down shortly after....Sierra rep told me to back off velocity or take that shot at 200 yards....all bullets have limitations but when pieced together and used properly they will kill efficiently

Wish there was a 100-110gr Accubond to reload with for the 243. The 243 is what my boys will be using when they start hunting. Maybe I can find a 260REM in a Sako m 75ss for another smaller caliber rifle so they don't fight over the 243.
Last year my 13 yo shot a 6x7 bull with his 243 at 275 yards with federal premium 100 gr. Shot was too far back but it didn’t go far. Nerves and wind caused that but I think I was more nervous than he was. He upgraded to a 308 this year.

Yes, I hear yha 58TC.

I was at the 400 meter target board the other day, and I just noticed bullets that were stuck in the 3"x10" bumper board.
Even my 308 178 ELD-X bullets. Ha,,, there were a few different bullets stuck in that bumper stopper.

They barely stuck into the thick plank, and the only thing missing was the tips.

I almost thought about reloading them one more time.
Of course the rounds I was shooting that day were tamed down for target practic.

MV of 2450 ft-per seconds, tame loads in the lower node
I'm sure they were going pretty slow by the time they tagged the plank at the 400 mark.

Not a .243 but did shoot an elk once with a .223. Granted it had been hit by a snow plow first and just needed to be dispatched poor bugger!

243 with heavier bullet is very capable of taking big animals if the shooter knows where to place the bullet. That being said many animals have run away from big guns when shooter is not so good.

I just returned from the arctic where the 243 is used by most as their large rifle. There are numerous people who used it to take polar bears. And yes that was their intended quarry.

When I was in Inuvic last summer chatting with a FN fellow there he said the same. His "big" gun was a 243. He shot moose, caribou and Walrus with it.
