Default Validating a parcel by border services

I can’t find the information on this...
I’m shipping out a bear hide, the export permit and cites paperwork is all done.

But the parcel needs to be “validated by a border services officer.”

How does that work?

I called Fed EX as they’re the company that I’m using and they don’t know the answer either. I thought fed ex might have “someone” who could validate a package but it seems not. Do I drive to the airport and get it validated- by who?

Hopefully someone has the answer

Might be something that would need a broker

I would suggest calling the border services of whatever country it's going to and ask them what to do since they're the custom's people who will be looking at your parcel.

You may need to contact Canada Customs too but considering the package won't be going through CC, it seems like a moot point. But they may have some advice/info for you so check them out too.

All it means is that the permits still needs to be checked and adhere to export provisions.

CBSA has an office near the airport where all the delivery companies are. Right beside Purolator/DHL if memory serves.

I was there today! I have all the export documents..
Now I need a form B13 export declaration.
Only problem with the B13 is it’s an online/digital form now and you need a business number to initiate the form. I’m not a business! It’s a one time export.

Then... you need a weighbill number/manifest from the carrier.

Then the question becomes which comes first the 13A or the weighbill?

Another trip to the CBSA office tomorrow. Oh and they won’t tell you where to find form B13...only that it’s in their site.

Then other thing is if you call them and manage to get through they can’t give you the contact information of the person who can help you. It’s agaqinst the rules. But they can direct you to the website and prompt you through the different pages until you get the right page ..then say “it’s the 8th. Line down”

But noooo. They’re forbidden to give you the number straight out.

Government efficiency at its best.

From what I remember, you can’t get a B13a anymore since you have to declare exports electronically now. Ask the BSO to refer to D20-1-1. As for further export documentation as an individual, you may have to reach out to global affairs. When you go to the office, talk to a superintendent that’s been doing commercial for at least 10 years. They will have a better idea on how to move forward.

Thanks.

So I went back and the guy at the counter says “I’m glad you came back” he gave me the wrong info. Now it’s just a matter of a courier manifest and going back to border services with it.. but to throw a wrench into the works, if we use my wife’s companies account to try and get better pricing then the B13A might come back into effect.

Lots of fun!
