Default Trapper Sled

I broke my sled for behind my skidoo and was looking for recommendations. What do you folks like or dislike?

Looking for something tough I believe

Going behind a Skandic wt with the 900 ace. Some hills and creek banks but not mountains.

Thanks TEH

Moose are you talking about this one Trapper Sled With Hitch (24" x 24" x 76")?

I can't find the Koender on their web site.

Thanks TEH

Yup that’s right. They are made from Koender manufacturing in Saskatchewan

I find the gravel on forestry roads raises hell with most sleds. I like a good grid of puck board strips bolted to bottom to save wear and tear on the sled.

You can get replaceable hyfax for otter sleds that take the brunt of the wear.

What do you think of the wider sled Moose? The Snow track II a little shorter but deeper and wider.

Thanks TEH

I’m pulling behind a skandic WT as well. I think that wider one would pull nice behind a WT.

I have a snow tracker ll. It pulls nice I sometimes argue with the lid as it flips forward. I’ve haul bull elk out with it and it does handle well. I put a couple handles on both sides. I went without the musher platform on the back of mine. They are good if you have lots to haul.

We all like a larger sled. However when loaded heavy they take a lot of power to pull up steep ridges in heavy snow. The positive of wide sled is it makes nice wide packed trail.

Thanks folks for your in put.

One last question a solid lid is a must is it not? I currently have the otter sled with the cover but the cover still caves in with the snow and I'm not a fan of that but better than an open sled.

The hard top is nice for working on and keeping snow out. It’s just a big lid is all. Hard top is a better way to go.

I built my own.

Fiberglass sled with UHMD bottom and plywood box with side opening covers that double as side extension.

I haven't used it in years but I think the sled is okay. But I'm pretty sure the plastic is shot. Box is probably shot too.
I'd give it to another trapper if they picked it up.

I gave away most of my trapping gear, did a lot to get it to the new owner only to have him dump on me because I didn't do it according to his wishes, which were never communicated to me beforehand.
I'm not going that route ever again.

For sure, some are, but lots of great guys n gals out there too.
Just no way to know until it's too late.

I also have some cam locks stretchers and snares left over, and a couple of ice picks but not going to deliver them and no one seems interested in picking them up so they'll probably wind up in a land fill some day.
