Default 100 yards

Trying to figure out where my bullet will hit at 25 yards and at 50 yards when I’m sighted in at 100 yards.

Dead in at 100 yards

How low or high at 50 yards

Thanks and please go easy on me.

That depends on the velocity, the B.C. and the scope height above the center of the bore.

Elkhunter is correct,

You can get an approximation that will be pretty close if you have a good idea of the velocity and bullet BC.

Check out Hornady's website calculator (below), you can play with the numbers to approximate your load using BC from a comparable bullet and common velocity numbers for your cartridge, use a low - high range for your values and that will bracket your particular cartridge so you can see the probable minimum and maximum

I've looked at a lot of centerfire cartridges and pretty much all of them will have the same trajectory to 100m with minimal differences out to about 275 - 325m, after that differences start to increase, up to 100m you can use what the calculator tells you with a lot of confidence

25 yards is fairly close to the same as 200 yards with most 2700 fps speeds I beleive

25 is fairly close to a 200yrd zero.*

Go onto jbm ballistics and you can put your bullet and speed in and zero and it will do a trajectory graph

Dead on at 25, about 1.5" high at 50 and about 3.25-3.4" high at 100 back on at 220-250 depending on gun. Not as exact as knowing cartridge, bullet weight and speed but this is a damn close approximation for most CF hunting rifles.

Can you give me the name of the ammo your using? Brand, weight, cartridge?
And what length of barrel your rifle has? Open sights or scope?

Then I’ll post you a drop sheet on here.

In all honesty, the best thing that you can do, is to shoot your rifle at 25 and 50 yards, but realistically, on a big game animal, you will be in the kill zone at either distance if you shoot dead on with a 100 yard zero.

That’s a great flat shooting round. I’d sight In at 200.

Unless you have drop marks or mil dot scope.

Gramps73.doc

Spread sheet with values,Choose Word Document when it asks you what to open it with. 0 at 25, 1.3 at 50, 3.0" at 100 back on zero about 280 yards. So point and shoot to 350.

Deans got the right idea.

I use 2” as my high or low max deviation

So most of my rifles end up sighted in for 2” at 100 and typically on at 200 with 2” low around 230 yards.
