Unhappy Miserable Goose Hunt

Just got back from a few days of duck & goose hunting in the Brooks/Bow City/Rainier area. Not one bird was seen in the air. No geese flying and no ducks. I checked the ponds and reservoirs and found very few locals. The few geese on the water were still in their small family groups (5 or 6). Talking to the locals revealed that there are very few birds to be seen.
Can anyone explain why so few birds? Is this situation common elsewhere?
Let me know.
Thanks.

What time were you out hunting and what days, opening weekend I had a blast near brooks. Went out with my Dad and nephew and we got 6 geese. Would have shot way more but I hate plucking pin feathers so we stoped shooting.

Geese did stop flying at about 8am in the morning cept for the odd flock or loners

On sunday went to a cannal again near brooks and for the 20 mins of hunting had 4 mallards and one really dumb coyote

There'll be plenty by October/November. The birds you're seeing are likely locals. Wait until the migrating birds have arrived.

They are around but not moving much, unless you on the right field or even right flight path. it's a crap shoot right now.

There are still lots of birds up here, so they are likely en route to you. They are still holding 600kms north of you.

Seeing a lot birds come down in the past few days in the north country. They will be coming to you soon but they might be a little smarter as well.
