Default My son won the Cabelas hunt at the grand opening!!

He was contacted last week and told he had won the Elk hunt!! All we know yet is that it will take place next Sept. and it is an outfitter from Fort St John B.C. The hunt will either be on horse back or jet boat.

Nice! And he has a year to get ready and practice... though I'm sure the wait will drive him crazy.

And depending on how old he is, I guess YOU are now roped in to coming along (and paying for the privilege, LOL).

Yea I thought I would see how much it would be to go along as a non hunting observer. He doesn't need me looking after him he is 19 and a seasoned hunter in his own right but I think it would be cool to tag along!

why not just buck up and buy a hunt and go with him at the same time its prob not much more than the tag along rate. I know i'd love to see my dad kill one good elk

I thought about that but this is his moment and I wouldn't want to take away from what could be a once in a lifetime thing for him.

That's very considerate of you IRH.

Everyone is different... but if it were me who would have won the hunt when I was 19, there would have been nobody in the world I would have rather had with me on that trip than my dad (he may not have been aware of that though).

Life is short. It may be worthwhile feeling him out a bit on the subject. If he wants to go it alone then that's definitely his choice to make but he may love to have you along and it could turn out to be a once in a lifetime thing for both of you.

Huh! Cabelas called me too, and told me I had won the Elk hunt, and I needed to send $500 by Western Union to confirm the trip, but I would be reimbursed next September......weird though, the money had to be sent to Nigeria?

Kidding, congrats to your son!
