While I can't speak from experience, Phil Massaro indicates that the 7mm-08, .30-06, 0.308, and 0.338 are good all-around North American (non-dangerous game) calibres.
Well, I don’t know if we solved the OPs dilemma or not, but we sure ‘nuff learned how to catch squirrels.
Just start a “.30-06 vs anything” thread!
Speaking of Squirrels, here's an article by Chuck Hawks explainingg what is being done to bury the 6.5x55 SE in N America. Only in America can SOME gunwriters twist things and sramble the truth this bad. NA Ammo Mfgrs. are'nt much better, Follow the money.
One faux pas and you go straight in the gutter? I’ve been around long enough to recognize amateur trolling when it’s presented to me.
It’s laughable your narcissism would let you believe I would bite on bait regarding your validation of my intelligence.
It’s a simple thing, try and be accurate with our speech, if someone corrects us we could attempt to take it in stride. I don’t talk about your beloved .280 Winchester do I? Because it’s not correct and I respect that.
Oh dear, he gotcha, didn't he?

I went back and read the OP. If its not a recoil thing then I’d go 30-06. Just a little More bang and great for deer through moose. Not underselling the 7-08 it’s great.
