Default First brown trout!

Hi everyone!

Just had to share this! My first brown. I'm soooo happy and excited! my life is fulfilled now! After catching a whitefish on a streamer last week I didn't think I'd ever catch a brown. Nothing against whitefish though! Sorry the pics aren't very good.

It was in fish creek of all places. I like small creeks lol. Not a big one only 11". Now I have to catch a bigger one! Though this little guy fought quite well. The fight is different from a rainbow.

By the way, is fly fishing supposed to take over your life?

Keep up the good work! Congrats, something romantic about the brown trout. Every year I catch one I feel like I did when I was a child.

It will and is more expensive than a drug habit...

If you want lots of Brown action and bigger ones hit up dogpound or the little red. Caught quite a few between 18"-20"

It was on a small pheasant tail nymph actaully. It was a silly whitefish I caught with a streamer the previous week.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I'm still exstatic about this! It's amazing how addicting this hobby is. Even for some of us females. Beats buying designers purses!

Yes I plan to get up to dog pound eventually. Work gets in the way of fishing. thanks for that tip!

Now I have to catch one on a dry too.

I used a small pheasant tail nymph in Fish Creek today too and caught a rainbow about 8 inches and a 6 inch brook trout.

Had a violent nibble off it and I am thinking it might have been a rainbow.

It was so much much. I think I am going to switch to nymphs for a while while fishing in creeks.

Dry Flies are difficult to catch fish on. Always swim up to the fly but spit it out or avoid it!

You must be fishing further upstream? Cool that there's brookies there! More browns nearer to the bow I imagine. I catch more fish with nymphs too. I agree lots of fun. I love seeing the rise of dry flies too! I just need to get better at dry fly fishing.

Yes I am fishing upstream. Not in the fish creek park area.

I have caught a very small rainbow and brook trout on a dry fly, but yesterday I started fishing with nymphs for the first time.
