Default big bad wolf

This wolf was shot near Edson Wyoming

This wolf was shot in our old area where we used to Ranch up at edson. He will probably be a new world record when he has had the 60 day drying
period. When he was shot he weighed 195 lbs and the guy holding him is 6
foot 3 inches.

Question

Wondering what is the hold Up? If I am correct this wolf was shot back in may. You only need 60 days to dry. When I took math in school that would put it just about 90 days past the required drying time. I know that if it was mine it would be getting scored and entered asap after the required wait time.

Question

I have heard that the skull is supposedly over 20" but it still is not entered into SCI to make it official. Something seems fishy to me?

I would have thought we would see an official score as is toted as a "new world record" in advertising- Grimms Monster mix, etc.

This always confused me. I don't believe that B&C even has a category for wolves. I'm pretty sure SCI does but it hasn't been around that long and I would assume that it has relatively few entries.....it wouldn't be too tough to be the "world record" IMO.

It was a huge bodied wolf for sure but it would not surprise me if the skull was "average".......it would be interesting to see the numbers though.

Guidehunt.....I saw the show when it was on tv. Happened pretty quick and the footage was less than perfect.....but it was on there.

I am really wondering why we have not gotten official some numbers on this big boy? Skull measurement, heighter, lenght, weight (I believe I heard 197 lbs). And better yet, I want to see the beast when it is done being mounted. I just thought by now we would have heard more about it.

It was on the "Hunting Chronicles" on Wild TV when I saw it. I never saw it on the net.

Alberta has been accepting entries for wolves since 1966 (as far as I can see). I'm just curious how it stacks up!!

Will check with one of the grims monster mix prostaff in Barrhead tomorrow to get the score. SCI does have a record for wolves. It is gray wolf and does have a number of entries. B&C does not but I have heard that they are considering one. One of my clients and I entered one in last year and it ranked #6 SCI at 17 15/16ths.

if 17 15/16 is #6 i wonder what the #1 is. a guy in our bear hunting group got one over 18 in may 07. he'll never enter it, but i bet he'd be curious to know. in fact it was a larger skull than the 5 bears taken in the week. we never weighed it but id guess over 180. unfortunately at that time of year the hide was garbage, but he was enormous! would have made an awesome mount with winter fur.

The current world record wolf (SCI) is 18 10/16" shot in 2006 in N.W.T.

Default Update Please

So was there any resolution to the Big Bad Wolf? Did we ever see any pictures of the full body mount? Did it make it into the record books anywhere? I am just curious as thas is, indeed, one big wolf. Any updates would be appreciated!

Well if it is indeed the new number 1 record wolf, then it was actually one of one or perhaps one of a few. Bet it was even more amazing alive.

thanks for posting

Well I have no doubt this wolf could hold his own against a large game animal, sometimes weight and size can actually hinder their speed and agility. There is a reason you don't see many 100lb+ dogs running agility courses...
