Default Tires for 3/4-1 ton diesels

Wondering what everyone is running for tires on 3/4- 1 ton diesels these days 35” .Ran Toyo m/t for last 15 years and cant complain just curious if anyone has ran the hybrids like the nitto ridge grapplers or Toyo r/t . Maybe the Nitto EXO grapplers.

In the winter I run Nokian Hakkapellittas on my Duramax. My summers are Bridgestone duellers. Happy with both. I had Nitto terra grapplers on it before the Bridgestones and they were junk. Just put a set of Duratracs on my wifes Colorado yesterday so hopefully they are good for the winter.

2011laramie How do you like those c/t? The nitto exo grapplers and c/t look very similar.

Cooper discoverer ST maxx are the best tires I’ve run. I can’t run them on my truck anymore cause of the size I got was a little too wide I couldn’t run tire chains due to my dodges leaf springs there was only an inch of clearance but as soon as they come out with the 35” that is one inch narrower I will go back. I drive lot of gravel and I got 110,000 on them and they are good on snow, ice and mud. Don’t get me wrong they were getting bald by 110,000 but I haven’t had that with any other tire

I run the Nitto XO grappler. I got 70,000km out of them. Handle well in all situations. Ice, snow, mud, rain etc. Overall the best tire I have ran so far.

The best mileage I got out of a set of tires was BFG All Terrains that came factory on my Dodge 2500 Megacab.

I got 120,000 kms out of those suckers rotating them once, lots of gravel and lots of towing.

I had toyos on my 97 F350 diesel and loved them. Run Duratracs on my 04 F250 V10 now and love them. Only ran them over the winter with 2 sleds on the deck. Performed awesome in the snow and ice. Very soon they will get the gravel & mud test.

I agree Toyo M 55 all I use on my trucks 1500 to 3500
They will take a heavy load and resist puncture better than other tire for me

I run duraTrac on both my trucks. Had them on my old 1/2 ton for 10 years, just got 2013 1/2 ton and put new ones on it. Have had them on my 1 ton for over 4yrs now, just about ready for a new set 35”x12.5x20”. Absolutely love the from highway to camping and hunting.

Exactly my experience, these are the only tires I'll run on my duramax.

I run Dick Cepek Fun country's on my work truck and it doesn't live an easy life doing pipeline work. lots of highway, gravel road and RoW driving always with a quad on the truck to. I get between 70,000 and 110,000km per set on my f350 and that's with only rotating once or twice (typically I leave them to long and they start cupping before I can get them rotated). The 305/70/18 are just a shade under 35 inches, good in snow and mud (not great in ice but nothing other than true winter tires are) because theyre an aggressive all terrain. They aren't cheap though running at close to 500/tire balanced and installed.

How are the Toyo's in Mud and snow/ice? I'm looking at new tires for my Ram 1500 now too. I've had Duratracs on my other trucks and liked them but found they wore down fast.

Nitto trail grapplers MT, 140,000km on my last set. Great in mud and I was really happy with ice and snow performance as well. And yes 140,000........maybe 20,000 longer than I should have, could have been an anomaly.

I run 2 different types of tires on my trucks, and these are them. My trucks aren't city street drivers, so I need something tough. The M55 will handle the abuse like no other, and the cooper is a nicer all round tire. And they do last!

Never been a fan of flat tires, so I run the best

Edit, M55's are now studdable

I had good luck with toyo m55
I worked up in the mud in Wabasca and never had any problem, worked great in snow also , mine were 10 ply , so they lasted good , considering where I was driving,
Some believe they are slippery on ice, but I had no problem , might be they were overdriving for the conditions, I had good luck driving on ice, passed a few people who had slid off the roads lol
I also have them on my wife’s truck , she hasn’t crashed .lol

Default Best options with application.

Good Year Duratracs- best all rounder, doesn't last as long if you tow regularly, very good on snow and mud but not good on ice.

BFG KO2- quietest of the three, also good value for money, better on ice

Good Year Adventure- quite on road, moderate off road traction and good tread life.

Toyo C/T - best if you tow or haul a lot, not very good on ice but good in snow. a little noisy due to the large blocks. Will likely last the longest

All tire life is subject to GVW, pressure, rotations and road condition

All three have three peak mountain snow flake so good for all year and BC.

If you don't tow or haul or go off road get the KO2
If you go off road or use a lot of unmaintained roads etc the Duratrac
If you do tow or haul go with the Toyo C/T

Have ran two set of C/Ts, one set of KO2

Hope that helps, I'm in the tire industry if you have any questions.
