Try Sandyview Farms in Spruce Grove. I pre-ordered a free range turkey from them a couple of years ago and if memory serves it was in the 25 lb range. Best turkey I've ever eaten but they don't come cheap.

Hutterites might be a second option. I get chickens from the Hairy Hill colony that are about the same size as turkeys.

I had the same issue. Found one in a Sobeys just as they opened and all the stock, was replenished. Bird set me back $76.00 smackers.

Find the closest Hutterite's, they usually sell them also, in the past we have gotten 25-30 pound birds from them. Good luck

Default 20+ turkey

My neighbor has Gone Green Farms near pigeon lake I was just asking him what he had for turkeys left and he said he had a 22lb one left, they are all butchered at a government inspected poultry facility really nice products.

Smile A tip boys

When they are on the "hoof" so to speak it is hard to judge weight.

I've grown them so big that they wouldn't fit in the oven. Long story.

Safeway at Northwood mall has them. On my weekly Edmonton visit, I found a nice 26 pounder for $31.98 at Safeway. And it was a grade A bird.

Just don't fall for their stupid "turkey special for $.86/lb". Those are pathetic small utility grade birds. And you need to spend a minimum of $50 and you can only get one per visit. And the largest one they had was only 15lbs.

We did that when I was a kid. Had to take it to the butcher to get it cut info half while frozen and use a friends oven and ours at home to cook it.

Order a ham from there also. Sandyview expensive, but great taste.

D’Arcy’s Meats in St. Albert is taking orders for fresh turkeys. You just need to tell them what size.

Found my turkey...Thanks !
Went to Safeway on Manning today and asked the butcher and he had a few in the back and brought me one......Said the trick to have a very moist turkey is to place the breast down to keep the meat in the liquids and place half a lb. of butter in the cavity .
Then said , no need to baste it while roasting.

Back in the 70s I bought a bunch of meat chickens.
Hens were "normal" size at about 8 lbs dressed.

One Rooster just kept growing , and growing..... and dressed out over 18 lbs !

This was well before the meat type birds you buy now.

Don't forget to put it in brine for 24 hours then make sure it's pat dry ... best turkey is a deep fried turkey ... with KFC gravy
