Wolf gun.
We have had a big problem lately with wolves and coyotes lately. Thinking of getting a gun in the future for wolves and the odd coyote.
What do you guys recoomend for caliber? Was thinking maybe .243 or 260

The little 243 is a nice calibre choice.

I've never had any trouble with my .270 tearing them up to badly. Probably a .243 or a 25-06 would be ideal.
Since there is often the opportunity for multiple kills I've often wondered if a semi-auto would be preferable to the more common bolt action. Wolf hunting often means miserable weather though, so maybe a pump?

I use a 25-06 for up here in northern BC. There's quite a difference in size between a wolf and a coyote.
YMMV

I know a fella that shot 27 last year with 40gr whitebox winchester ammo from a 22-250. This year he is using a 243 win

22-250 is a nice fast and flat trajectory round and wont tear them up if your wanting to save the hide.

I've killed Wolves with a 22 magnum and others with my 30-06, a 280, and other calibers.
Any rifle will do, if the shooter is up to it. That being said, if I were choosing a rifle just for wolves and Coyote I would choose either a 22 250 or a 25 06, for the flatter trajectory.
Wolves can be hard to get close to sometimes.
Say Bob, those wolves still hanging around that were there when I was root raking for you?
