The remington 710 uses some pretty non standard gunsmithing to acheive bolt lock up. the bolt lugs actually lock into the barrel instead of the receiver which BTW is the Norm. The 710 was a cheap low cost production initiative to allow Remington to bite into the same market niche that Savage had carved out with their 100/11/116/16 series of rifles. The 710's had all sorts of issues, and have been majorly re vamped and are now called the Model 770. One has to ask why the re vamping, and why the nomiclature change? Actually it's simple Remington screwed the pooch on the 710, and the best advice I can give is back away and re think your requirements. I'd buy a Savage bolt rifle long before looking at the 710, at least the savages have a reputation for accuracy on a budget, the 710 can only claim to be a great let down.
The remington 700 is the queen of factory made bolt guns, round bottom receiver, adjustable triggers, and reputation for good accuracy. The 700 locks up in the receiver and flaunts it's totally enclosed bolt face although many claim it's extractor is it's week point it's been prooved problems with the Remington extractor are often a result of poor usermaintence or poor reloading practices.
I'd back away from the 710, and get a 700 but that's just my opinion.
Good luck.
