Yup great win for the oil tonight and coupled with the flames loss we are opening up a bit of a spread on first place with a game in hand, it's all good, I was a habs fan tonight for about an hour and it helped

I think someone turned out the lights in Calgary, the last post on the flames thread is 4 days ago ??? or maybe both their fans are gone hunting for a week

Is the game today being played faster then the officials can keep up? Seems like the officials are guessing a lot lately. Even on the replays watching McDavid I have to watch it twice sometimes to see what actually happened, imagine being a ref on the ice also concerned about many other things while trying to follow the fastest player in the game. I’m curious because the last couple games have had some really interesting calls and non calls.

If they called every liberty taken against McD as a penalty, combined with the PP of the Oilers, the engraving on the cup could be done tomorrow. The NHL knows this.

As an aside, the top 2 teams that I love to see lose are playing each other tonight. Talk about confliction

Oilers played better than the Flames by far yesterday.

I’m still hoping both teams dominate in the West and one wins the cup!

I am a Canadian hockey fan first and foremost, but the pecking order goes Oilers #1 and Flames #7. I cheer for the five teams in middle mostly based on the under dog.

So if by some chance the Flames are the last Canadian team in playoffs, I will plug my nose and cheer for them.

2 really bad defensive plays and a 1/2 dozen missed opportunities. What I really liked tonight was Skinner's game. A solid game where he gave the boys a chance to win.

They weren’t shooting the puck until period 3. Simple as that.
Halfway through the second period they had 14 shots on net.
And that’s with FIVE power plays.

I thought once again the oilers had the second best goalie on the ice. He completely last track of the puck and froze on that one breakaway, and while he was curled up posing the rebound was easily tapped in for a goal. Was more a beer league goalie type play then an NHL player. Seems both Koskinen and Skinner are prone to letting in soft ones that are the difference. I had high hopes for Skinner and Koskinen but I’m my opinion they are both mediocre goalies who show the flashes of brilliance, but lack consistency and are both prone to letting in softy’s . Smith is the one goalie who can put up a wall and steal games consistently. Watching the Calgary game highlights that Vladar played exceptional last night I thought.

I find it hilarious that the flames are having a good start. But, even though they have played the last 2 nights, their faithful have not mentioned them. LOL, the shames thread is on the 3rd page!!!!

Some people are just hockey fans, and some people joined a cult. It isn't complicated.

Now get out there and worship!

If the oilers were 64-3-3 and flames were 61-6-1, the flames thread would be silent.
If the oilers were 27-31-5 and the flames were 31-27-5, the thread would be active.
And vice versa……
The battle of Alberta is real!!!!

Why cheer for the Flames then? The shorter beer lineups? Uniform sympathy? Everybody loves a loser syndrome? 😁
