He’s fun to watch because he never stops playing.

Good to get the kid some experience.

The Oilers are playing in a bit of a fog with a little lead in their legs.

At the 13:00 mark they had a bit of added energy.

Ya they haven’t played very good hockey. Hope they can shake it and get better this year.

Need to spool up here. Indeed a bit of jet lag after the NY game. When 97 has the puck behind the net, keep stick on ice

So far this season…

Their offence has been great. Defence okay. Goal tending meh.

This first period they just seemed off. Need to bump it up a couple notches and help out their young goalie to get a win.

It could very well be the jet lag. They have some cobwebs to fight through.

Leaders need to speed it up and drag others up with them.

He has won games but his goals against average is not stellar. Now is it his fault or is the D too lax in front of him.

Oilers are playing very poor tonight. Skinner just made an embarrassing ops. The veterans better help him know he is learning. If the Oilers had a few goals he wouldn’t feel as bad.

Oilers have the ability to score four quick goals. They just aren’t skating hard tonight.

His goals against this year is better than both Markstrom and Fluery career average. Look up fluerys credentials.
I’ll leave it at that, before this turns into a covid thread 2.0

Firstly… we both want the Oilers to win.

Secondly… we both don’t hate any of the players that I am aware of.

Thirdly… we both can see the pluses and minuses differently.

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/statistics

Koskinen is sitting around 25th (2.45) in goalies for goals against average. Part of the problem as I see it is the Oilers Defence is letting far too many shots. Markstrom is 3rd at 1.65.

SV% Markstom is 5th at 0.942. Koskinen is 20th at 0.92

Both the Flames and the Oilers have good goals for… 45 for Oilers and 40 for flames and good goals against. 28 Oilers and 22 for Flames.

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/standings

I think the Oilers have the more powerful offence and the Flames edge them on defence. Flames have the better goaltending by a significant amount.

All that said it now comes down to which team will improve and which won’t.

Flames are playing better as a team but the Oilers are improving.

If I had to bet… I think the division will end up Oilers number one and Flames number two. If the Oilers continue improving and goaltending tightens up the Oilers should win the division. If they play as well as they have they are the cup contender I hope they will be.

I want an Alberta team in the playoffs.

The oil just couldn't get it done last night, the wings played good and the oil sputtered for the first 35 minutes, they seemed out of sorts, better get their poop in a group as Boston is next.

The flames had a chance to take over first last night but couldn't get past the sharks, not a great night for Alberta hockey fans

Entertaining 1st period. I figure it’s going to be back and forth all night. Special teams will win or lose this game.

Playing Boston has really put our flaws on display.

Not great D so far.

Third line getting crushed.

3 posts now…. Dammit

Drai, McDavid and Hyman has raised their games…!

We have a chance at this game.
