Default Edmonton to Penticton.

Has anybody driven from Edmonton or Calgary out to Kelowna or Penticton in the last week or so? A potential family emergency has come up, and I might have to make a sudden trip out there soon. Just wondering about the road conditions. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

We're expecting snow starting later in this week. You can be sure that the passes will have plenty of snow.
TransCanada 1 has some closures happening east of Golden for construction.
TC1 is shut in the Fraser Canyon and well as the Coquihalla (Hwy 5) so transport traffic will be heavy on Hwy 5 north of Kamloops.
If I were having to travel to Edmonton, I would probably use Hwy 5.
However, that being said, go to Drive BC to get the latest information. Their twitter feed most likely is the most up to date. It comes in the mobile form.

Highway 1
Highway 1. Construction work between Golden Donald Upper Rd and Yoho Bridge for 4.9 km (2 to 7 km east of Golden). Until Wed Dec 1 at 6:00 AM MDT. Road closed. The Alternate Route via Hwy 95 and Hwy 93S is available during this time. Allow 1.5 hours additional travel time. Next update time Wed Dec 1. Last updated Thu Oct 7 at 10:19 AM MDT. (DBC-33974)

Drove through last week no issues other than the regular winter weather.
