Default Late Alex Trebek's 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC was up for Auction Today in P.S.

I’ve attended this auction 3-4 times this car was up on the auction block this afternoon, watched the live feed, the reserved was $180K the highest bidder was $160K, the seller dropped the reserve to $170K but the bidder wouldn’t go higher, the car is still 4 - Sale.

About 15 minutes later they announced the bidder & seller made a deal, the car sold, but didn't say at what price. I imagine it will be posted at sometime in future, will update accordingly.

D.

Lot # 248.

McCormick’s Palm Springs Collector - 1956 JAGUAR XK140 MC ROADSTER with 75K miles. Trebek, bought the car in 1976 for $6,875, according to McCormick's. He bought the car before he became a TV celebrity. Alex was unknown at the time, out of work, looking for a job and needed to part with the car. Includes binder full of documentation including copy of bill of sale from Alex to our consignor, signed letters from Alex to our consignor and numerous photos of Alex in the car. The car underwent a complete frame off restoration in 1991, all documented with photos and includes Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The car has also won numerous 1st in class awards at many car shows due to the high quality restoration.

Must have been right before hyperinflation.
$7000 in 1976. That is like $70k car now.
Double the one for being so rare.
