I've always thought those imported 'rescue dogs' were such a crock of BS. Its like the virtue-signal of pets. Except its a pet with a carbon footprint from its shipping. There are surely some people rescuing dogs that are truly feral or abandoned or whatever, but there have to be some puppy mills that are intentionally breeding dogs for this hipster market.

About a year back I recall reading of a serious accident on a highway in the US, there was at least one fatality (possibly more, fuzzy on that detail). The story was the people were bringing another load of 'rescue dogs' from the southern US to Alberta, I forget if everyone died or just the one person.
