Default bog pod shooting tripod

I have the aluminum model and it works great with the exception of opening &
closing of the plastic clamps in cold weather; just wondering if a good lube/grease would be appropriate

I've used silicone spray on a variety of things and always seemed to work well. There are also some 'dry' Teflon sprays that work. Which pod did you get been debating buying one of the switcheroo varieties think it would be cool to be able to use it for a spotting scope then be able to swap out for the shooting horn.

just the regular aluminum tripod that bass pro sells; like I mentioned I really like it except for the difficult opening/closing of the plastic clamps in cold weather.
I hope they don't break in the cold, hopefully the dry teflon spray will make them function better..... any particular brand of teflon spray would you recommend?

The reason they are so hard to operate in the cold is they shrink a lot and thus get very tight. Lubrication will help but applying a little heat from your hands prior to trying to operate them will help ensure you don't break them.

Loosen the screws a bit that will make it easier to open and close. Mine is the other way i have to tighten the screws every so often.

^^^^^^^^this

The tension on the cam locks is adjustable......back off the screws!

I have a Bog Pod tripod as well. Way more versatile than a rifle mounted bipod.

Do you find them awkward to set up at all? I tried using the cabelas brand shooting sticks (bipod style) and while they worked great once in position, they were a bit awkward to get just the right height/angle for my position, and they'd fall over every time I shifted position/took weight off the gun. Just a bit of a clusterf*** to get in position quickly.

Bipod are designed to be leaned into you at about a 30 degree andgle with the V placed just ahead of you sling swivel. That way you get forward pressure for steadiness, can adjust height a bit by adding more or less angle and with the pod pushing back at you they don't fall over. You can rest your gun in the V with the butt in your lap, sitting and it will just sit there. Sort of like this picture and the first one in the second set but with more angle and the V ahead of the sling swivel..

I’ve shot a few animals off the tripod. It’s awesome.

Takes a bit to get used to it, but now I know what height I need for sitting or standing.

After days in the field I had to tighten some of the hex screw just a little.
From then on there is the correct hex key duc taped to the shaft.
