Default 30x40 shop

Hello was wondering if anyone can give any insight into cost to put up a 30x40 metal shop, 10 ft walls, on slab with drain, thanks for any information you may provide, also contacts for builder's.

My advice is if you are serious about building one get your overhead door ordered right away. I had a heated shop built in May and we are still waiting on the overhead door. Doesn’t sound like I’ll see one for at least another month at the earliest.

We have been waiting months for overhead doors for our new tractor shed at the range, and they aren't that large.

Built 42x30 with 12ft overhangs each side.
Absolutely everything all in, from concrete to doors to excavation.
Only problem is…. Built in 2005

$45,000 complete.

If you think you only need 30x40 you probably will be wishing it was bigger. Mine is 40x60 15’ ceiling. Wish I would have went 48 x 72.

I'm betting it would be double that or close to it today. I had a 32x52', 14' walls, 12' door built about 6-7 years ago and it was just a bit more than what you posted. Probably close to $100,000 to completely finish everything including a 10,000 pound hoist.

An attached garage to the house will be going up soon. $60,000 not finished inside. Prices on everything are still insane and will probably never come back to even close to where prices were 5-10 years ago.

Cripes, even three years ago...

Totally agree! Go bigger than you think you need.

I built a 40’X40’X16’ back in summer of 2015. I was under 65,000$ complete, did all the work myself except for the concrete. Now days that shop would most likely be double. Like some are saying if you can go bigger do it for sure. I no longer have that shop as i sold that place but before the move I prefabed myself a 40’X60’X16’ for my new place . All in on that one im sitting at 39500$ for the building alone . Priced out some packages before I decided to build it myself and was looking at 190,000$ just for the building alone , unreal. Sure glad i have the means to put things together on my own saved myself piles of money. Depending on what your timeline is I may be able to fab up a building for you something to keep in mind .

While not a full build, I am in the middle of doing some improvements to my 40x60 quonset near Peace River to make it viable for automotive repair.

Concrete - The rear half of my quonset is currently a dirt floor. I am pouring 6" to fill it in, so 40x30 with a drain sump. $20 000. That includes excavate dirt, compaction, gravel fill and further compaction, rebar in a 12" grid, precast sump, concrete and labour.

Spray foam - Approx 3500 sq ft of interior roof/wall at 1.5 inches. $10 000

While not in Alberta, as your pricing will be a bit less because of more trades competition, our regular nothing special completely finished shop in Northern BC is running near $250K for that size.
One overhead door, drywall inside, no water or plumbing inside, with overhead tube heaters.

That's from drawings to handing it over.

I can see you close to $200K finished or less, but that is a realistic place to bank on.

Just got a quote today on building 30x40x14, for $35,000, granted add in slab probably at $50,000-55,000

I am looking at building some thing similar, think about the resale value. Can you get a tractor or semi in there? You can build it for yourself or think about the next guy.

Son built his 30-40 near Sherwood Park 2 years ago, insulation, heater, triple 15 ft doors right around $100K. It will be higher now contractors getting little bit greedy these days.

Yes, that's why prices are higher now.
Greedy contractors...

Give your head a shake.
