Wmu 338. Wolf lake road (no im not kidding), south of highway 16
339, wherever you see tracks crossing the roads
Ya ha tinda area
346, north of highway 16/Edson. Lots of bush roads to get back in there.
Saw tracks/heard howls in all those areas this year. Not likely a coincidence that I did not see deer in any of them either

Played chicken with a large black wolf on that road a few years ago. He was coming head on to me and I wasn't gonna stop, as he disappeared under the hood he jumped off to the side and into the bush

I second that. WMU 339 is infested on south side of Elk River Road.

I always enjoy when someone wants to hunt wolf and half if not more of the comments are useless.
How many times do I read on this forum about the need to decrease the wolf population?

i agree they need to be managed however i think the reason you wont see too many people say much more is because its there hunting grounds come sept to nov.

Probably one of the toughest animals to hunt
In Alberta so not knowing your relative experience on wolf or even coyote hunting I would suggest hiring a pro guide like Redfrog and learn the ropes instead of learning everything the hard way like most of us did.

there's too many wolves on 2/3 of Alberta, if we start giving specific spot, this thread will go over 1000 pages

if you call your Bio for the area your hunting he/she will let you know of problem areas ..farmers complaints etc ..ph 310-0000 and ask for the zone Bio
I live where the wolves are plentiful .. some trappers are Pro wolf trapper so they may be sparse ... other lines have packs of 9 to 17
I just call them in .. especially if I hear them
go out in bush at night where there are sign/tracks and try howling ..you can get a answer then have a place thought out for next morning ..set up wait for 1/2 a hour of quite .. then distress call ... I use a Elk reed too get them too come in .. n mix in a wolf howl
4 wolves in 6 days .. 2 out of 3 twice

I find it very encouraging that so many people are out there hunting and trapping wolves. The deer, elk, moose all thank you....and so do hunters.
I've been trying to connect with a pack in 406, I seem to get close every year but have not connected, maybe this year the ungulates will thank me.

I also posted the following question on the thread "Success Calling Wolves".
A little off topic, can someone clarify the wolf season. The regs say; "...from the opening of ANY big game season in a particular WMU..."
Does this include big game opening to archery? And if so, is rifle hunting of wolves allowed?
