Im sure others have had the same thing happen to them. How did it work out? One of the guys I hunt with had it with a large bull elk, Said he never saw more panic in a animal than in that second and he usain bolted.

My bow mounted camera actually helped me last year hunting elk. The camera shut off with two vibrates and the lead cow broke off to come see what was up, pulled the bull away for a 32 yard shot.

^ its funny how things work out sometimes in a season. sometimes all you need is a little odd luck.

I was surprised the bucks did not bust out of there. When the phone first vibrates the one in the lead definitely looked for the source.

Admittedly I think I missed my chance, Once I realized what buck the lead one was I quickly decided to not shoot him. The second buck snort wheezes and I was distracted enough by him doing so (first I have witnessed in person) that I missed my chance to draw.

Fingers crossed buck 1 lives the year and I see him again next year.

A friend of mine has bird calls for his ring tone. Don't know if it makes a difference, fake vs real.

Vibrate and check it in the truck, on the way home unless I am expecting a text, no calls at all while hunting...voice mail.

Mine is on vibrate, and being so cold (5th hour in stand in -16) I dont check them. I had placed my wind checker in wrong pocket though and thats what it was vibrating against so darn loud. I should dig up my pictures of this buck in previous years and see what you guys think.

I called my wife back after this. She says I told her of her poor timing and she just says " I had a bad feeling it was a poor time to call" THEN WHY DID YOU CALL!

I can't help it as i need to answer phone calls for work on some weekends. a couple weekends ago I'm sitting in a back corner of the field about half hour of legal light and my phone rings. Dealt with the call and 10 minutes later a couple bucks walk out right by us and my buddy takes the bigger one of the two. Phone call seemed to be no issue, that being said i would rather not have to answer my phone while hunting.

I was at full draw on what was probably my biggest bull elk ever, last year and he was coming in strong. He had committed. Breaking branches, screaming and ripping up the ground. He needed to take about two more steps from behind as small bush. I had my phone in my pocket on vibrate, usually don’t get any reception there so I didn’t worry about it. First I got a text message so it vibrated. He paused and looked in my direction, so I held still and he shrugged it off, he was so worked up. He takes one more step and I get a phone call and he jumps out of his skin. Gone like the king of Rock n’ roll !
So, yeah they can hear your phone on vibrate.

My first ever kill. I stalked into a bachlor group of mule deer. Downwind as they grazed up the hill through the alphalpha. Crouched down and all of a sudden hear bing, i didnt get that. Siri was talking in my pocket even with phone on silent! They stare straight at my direction and alter path. Quick as can be i back up gamble on where they go and get in position and make the shot. Was longer then i wanted but made it out with my buck.

The amount of noise and movement alone was more than enough to scare them off never mind a phone call.

For some buddies, I'll only text them during the day.

Others get a call.
