My First Mulie Buck
Got my first mule buck the other day. Was a pretty cold and windy one and mixed with the excitement I made a crappy shot but was able to put another in him with much better placement.
I initially saw him earlier in the day but then he sort of jogged off across the field into a ravine, so i came back a couple hours later confident he'd come backs nd sure enough I turn the corner and he's in the ditch by a pond. I pulled over, he sauntered across the road to my side and into a field, stopped...then pretty much walked into some bush that was nearby. As I watched him walk into the trees I knew exactly where he was going to go, and exactly where I would have a great chance at him from about 150-200 yards.
So I go up a hill and set up along a tree to keep steady and sure enough not even 2 mins he came into a clearing. And the rest is history haha

**UPDATE**
Just got the head back from Whitetail Taxidermy out of new sarepta. I couldn’t be happier with the result, Gerry was great to work with and did an amazing job!
I just have to make a back drop, which I have a few ideas for. Should be a fun project.

Very nice looking Euro. I mounted mine on some old barn wood, I think it makes a nice change to the more traditional hardwood 'plaque' style...just a thought. I sure like the look. I have considered adding some old rusty barb wire on the perimeter as well, probably will some day.

i have some barn wood as well. I like what you did, Im thinking of cutting some up and making more of a square shape. I also have the shell i used so Im going to mount that below, just like you did. How did you go about attaching your shell to the wood?

Just a little clear silicone. I wasn't sure how it was going to look, and wanted to be able to take it off without damaging the base...but I liked the look, and there she stays. Good old 7mm-08 brass.

I think it looks great the way it is, without being too 'busy'. I might have to do this for my next Euro.

Thanks. Yeah, it's been on the wall for a few years already and I haven't gotten around to adding the barb wire...probably never going to happen. I really like the look of it. I dress it up for Christmas too...
