Default Dollar exchange- time to cash in or wait?

I am thinking another 1/2c and I am going to cash in my USD for CAD. Will see Monday I guess, I am sure glad we aren't going on a late trip to the States. Good thing is cashing in now means my trip to LA was almost free, I paid $12000 CAD for $10000 USD and cashing in my $8992 USD right now is $11764 minus the bank cut. Another couple cents and I am right back where I started in September.

His dad loved it when we were lower than this and I suspect JR. Will be taking us on the same train ride as it’s the only play book he has read.

Well if it goes a couple more cents I will cash out. I have seen par and higher a few times and 1.40 many more. The next time we hit par or close I am going to buy 6 digits USD then ride the roller coaster.

I was just making a joke really - but seriously speaking ....

It's so hard to say ...... I read up to 1.37 by mid April ...... but honestly almost anything can happen between now and then and with Mr.Trump just south of our border ....it just makes predicting anything tough. What happens day to day is just a special kind of surprise party scary.

I'd say there will be a significant change when the tarrif/nafta thing works it's way through and we get an idea of maybe which direction we are headed.

So hard to tell - we (our company) put in 1.37 for April Mid point anyways.

Currency Hedging can be as rewarding as it can be painful.

I wish that I was confident that I will live long enough to see par again.

I'd hold for a bit yet Ken, I see it dropping more yet. It sure isn't coming back this week imo...so be patient. You are ahead anyway, wait till you see the 'reverse'.

Default Cdn $

Be patient, according to many Forex-Hedge Analysts the concensus is that the Cdn. dollar will continue dopping until May, bottoming out in the 62 cent range.
The probability that it hits .62 is 50/50, the probablity it hits .68 is 80/20.
These are forecast fom people a lot smarter than me, and I have been trading Forex on their forecast for years!

It would be worth it to buy another 10,000 today if that's the case

It's a hold for me. I moved into US currency back in the par days, and I see no reason to come back out.

That's the forecast! However, if you're buying amounts in the 10k range you'll likley be going thru a Financial Institute, that will up-charge you 3-4 cents, seriously eroding your risk/reward.

Anybody ever use KnightsbrigeFX for exchanging? The banks take far too much front and back end in most cases to be worthwhile.

I am dealing at the Servus Credit Union, if you do $10,000 USD minimum they give you a much better rate to buy.

I have never been on the right end of the exchange swing when I actually have money, when it was par I was still paying off my mortgage. Being patient with exchange is likely the very easiest investment there has ever been, and honestly it is the only investing I have ever done. I won't make a lot but will be ready.

Credit Union or Chartered Bank, both will up charge from the Market regardless of the amount.
And your right even at 10k /transaction you're not going to get rich. Need to trade in the 8-9 figure range everyday to make a living!

US BANKS are positoned to move, however avoid Wells Fargo! A high yield EFT could be another consideration.

great news until the US imposes a duty on whatever product you are shipping down south. if the same product is being manufactured or produced south of the border and they cannot compete with the cheaper Can dollar, you may find yourself on the outside looking in.

Nope we import from Asian market mostly and pay the mills in USD and charge our customers in USD. This way most of our money stays in a USD account.
