Go with the gutless method - you will have four quarters, straps and tenderloins ready to pack out before you remember where you stored the tool.

The gutless method is great if you are in the back country. When we are hunting deer around home, though we usually gut them, and hang them for a few days. This tool works great for all the times we do hang our game.

If you are planning on buying one, don't get it at the sportsmans show, they are 3 bucks cheaper at wholesale sports! I am thinking about buying one just to see if it actually works!

What if you forget your butt out tool at home? Could you do it with your knife? There is always some gadget out there that is dreamed up to supposedly compensate for lack of knowledge and make our lives easier. Maybe it works but so does a pocketknife.

If you cut properly around the butthole before you pull the guts out you will never need this tool.Just another thing to clean or lose imo..

Default butt out

Well, if it helps make a chore quicker and it works slick, why not? Sure a knife works well too, but there is no harm in a gadget that speeds up a job, plus there is the "Gadget Factor" where you got a gee whiz dealio that works pretty sweet and you are the first kid on the block to have one.

Interesting to read the comments on it being another thing to lose. I found mine walking a trail. lol I like it but i would likely not replace it if/when I lose it.

I was out hunting with a self professed 'experianced' hunter and he shot a doe on the side of a hill. I gave him my butt-out to use while I went to the truck, and when I returned he was complaining it didn't work...then I saw where he inserted it He still blushes when he see's me
