Default Pics from my elk hunt.

Well i went out on Wed evening to see if me, my dad or another fellow we hunt with could fill our 2 cow and 1 bull elk tags. All together we seen only 25 elk, bunch of satellite bulls that werent legal(3 points or larger), we seen a small herd of about 12 yesterday morning but it was still too early to shot and they took off into the bush and we couldnt find them after that. Didnt even see that much elk sign, just not enough snow in the higher altitudes to push them down to where we hunt. We did get some snow on Wed evening but most of melted the next day. So needless to say we got skunked but still lots of season left.

Now if Whitetails were open for rifle and we had moose tags we would have had great success. All together we seen 12 moose, only 2 of which were cows, and one calf. So 9 bulls 2 had around a 40" spread and 2 others had over 50" spread.

Seen too many whitetails to count, i did count bucks though and i seen 10 different bucks. I was carrying my bow with me 2 of the 3 days and the last day i didnt have it with me and of course i snuck up on a really nice 4x4 whitey to within 40yds, could have got closer too, took a pic of him but it didnt turn out But between 3 of us we seen tons of whities and of them all there were about 6 does, so seems the buck to doe ratio is a little off, might have to do something about that

Managed to do some ruffed grouse hunting too and i managed to bag 6, one of which i took with the bow. Also did some trout fishing and had great success there as well, pulled lots of fish out of the water and few really nice trout(pics is fishing discussion)

But here are a bunch of pictures i put into some slideshows.Hope you enjoy

Default Great photos

Lethalconnection,
Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a great time. Dropping a elk would've been a bonus. Spending time with family and/or friends is in my opinion the best way to go.

nice grouse pics. I shot one today with a .22 (combo gun .22/.410) and couldn't believe it. I got feathers out of it and it flew? Anyways, i chased it down and gave her the .410 barrel too. lol. We figure it must have tried landing in a tree and fell out.
