Looks like all the free random camping is done except for areas by Indian Graves. Does this mean no hunting camps unless you camp in a provincial campground along the trunk road?

Way i read it is random camping is find except for the previous willow creek area those rules continue

I suppose if a person really wanted to buck the system and get out of a ticket, the wording says effective May 15, but map shows trails effective May 31st, if i was out quadding and using the map, i would suspect I was good until 31st.

Once again they got it all figured out. Excellent planning front to back.

I was expecting to hear about a "Livingstone Provincial Park".

This looks like a positive step towards better use of this land. I hope the public are given a bit of rope on new regulations this weekend given the timing and then have these changes enforced appropriately going forward.

Yup, this used to be a great province. Just wait until the NDP get in next term then they can start to shut down hunting in all these parks that they are making.

Pretty easy to verify just call the forestry office in Pincher Creek.

And as recreational use is restricted, the area is over-run by cattle and there is a plan to clear cut most of the timber in the area.

When you get into the document there is a lot about Rustic Camping being moved into designated areas. They are planning a phased approach. From how I understand it you will be able to Rustic Camp (RV/car camp) in the areas they have designated on the map. Which is non continuous along the Trunk road and up a few of the major branch roads off of that. In 3-4 years they plan to implement Rustic camping zones which means no random camping. This all starts on page 37 of the PDF they have available.

Well after being a near victim of the Kenow wildfire, lm ok with cattle grazing and logging on our eastern slopes.

I don't put a whole lot of faith in asking the pc f&w about about the do's and donts in the park. Most of the time they can't answer hunting related questions.

Forestry not F&W. Only 4 designated trails with signage for quads. South Lost, North Lost, North Kootenay Pass and North York Creek/ Plane crash.

I’ve hunted the porkies for years and the same trails have been there forever. I have seen no problems or damage where I have been hunting. We walk to hunt most of the time and use quads to retrieve. But we have to get to some areas by vehicle to hunt. Being on elderly side this will definitely compromise my hunting. The other issue will be if they enforce the fourteen day rule. We usually leave our camp for the whole season as many others . This POS government can’t be gone soon enough

That 14 day camping has been in place for years. It’s to prevent people from squatting on public lands which usually increases litter and pollution. I would think if you keep a good site they probably won’t bother you. Can’t blame everything on government.

I agree plus by that time there is no camping pressure. But I am sure this is just more of the thin wedge coming in. My hunting days are on the down side but I fear for the younger friends that love this sport in the future

re the 14 day rule. If it was enforced decades ago as it should have been we wouldn't be finding ourselves in the same situation as we are in now. The current govt didn't make that rule. The rule is a good one, if you/others choose to ignore it you're part of the problem and you deserve what you have coming to you. Stick to 14 days people....

I liked it best back in the sixties and seventies. Everyone had a job and we were not suffering from over population of southern Alberta. You would go into some valleys and you would be the only one in there. Now with everyone wanting to use the area for their own agenda its like going into west edmonton mall.

Not just atv’s, but also, random camping and hunting. Oh and don’t let me forget taking your dog for a walk.
