Default Shooting bench

Has anyone used the herters shooting bench from cabelas.
I have been reading the reviews on it and for the most part it’s all good.

I haven't used that one. But I've tried two others that were similar. Im not a fan of having my seat attached to the bench, unless it's a heavy bench. I don't like the idea of having my butt attached to my reticle. Any movement in your body results in a moving bench. I'd reccoment sitting in it at Cabela's if they have. Demo out. Maybe ask if you can use a scope and rest it on the bench. When looking through it move a little on the seat and see if it gets all wobbly on you. OR, if you want. I make benches and sell them. All proceeds to ducks unlimited.

Here's the link if your interested.

I raised over 3500$ in 2017 from builbing benches and the odd piece of furniture. This year I'm hoping to break 4k.

Default Herters bench

I have sat on it a number of times. It is not in the same league as what Ramonmark is making. Small platform and shakes a bit. Fine for sighting in a rifle for sure which is what most do, but not a serious piece of equipment for accurate shooting and/or load development. That my 2 cents. Take it only for what its worth which is exactly 2 cents.

It has one thing going for it, that being that it is portable. However, it isn't very solid.

If I could justify it I would have one of these.

For a portable bench that’s not insanely heavy they are awesome for the price. If you don’t need portability get something more solid. I think they are 130 on sale.

Not sure how those benches are that much money
I have built quite a few of them. The top comes off and the legs fold up. They are rock solid. The top is 3/4 plywood laminated. So it's 1 1/2 thick.
Hope the pics show up.

Cut a piece of plywood to the shape you want. Screw it to a workmate folding bench. Then get a folding chair. Won't break the bank and even my wife can carry it.

I have a differing point of view.

Portability for us means anywhere we wander can be set up for range work (yes, with all the safety conditions adhered to). That alone is very worthwhile.

Chose your ground well you are setting up on, and these shooting benches are much more stable than most understand.

We use them a LOT for shooting our crossbows out here.
And the bench is more than stable enough to allow us to produce consistent bullseyes at 100 yards. You simply cannot produce those results from a non-stable platform period.

So, in short, for their price point, they are indeed a serious piece of equipment. Myself, and several of my Buddies will never be without one.

Cheers,
Nog

I have sat on the Cabelas one a number of times and for the price, and the weight, I think it's great. I like the fact it folds up with the legs all attached. Waiting for them to go on sale and I'm going to grab one for this years gopher shooting. I thought they were quite sturdy.

They are worth the $150ish you pay for them, but no more.

I've seen them for less, but they are $149.99 ($50 off) right now. I've been eyeing them for a while now.

Got mine over 2 years ago before Cabelas was in Calgary. Ordered through Cabelas in Winnipeg. Free shipping and at $99.00. Love the portability, weights about 40 lbs. Sets up in seconds about 10. Stable enough for me. Shooting a pkg. Savage 11/111 at 120 yards.

Ive used the caldwell one. Talk about comfortable

http://amzn.to/2F3XIg1

Amazon has it and a couple others. The Caldwell is kinda pricey, but its a premium bench. A couple of the other ones are fairly decently priced in in around the $200 range.
