I've seen a tonne of gophers around spruce grove. I am just waiting for the females to give birth so I don't ruin the fun for later in the season. Good luck to all. And happy shooting

I can't wait to get home!!! Got a new .17 Remington Fireball to try out on gophers. Along with the .204 Ruger, .22 Hornet, .22lr, .17HMR and the 22-250 look out gophers... it's open season!

As the redneck renegade said wait for the females to give birth so that there may be good shooting all season not saying that we shouldnt shoot any now but lets let a few stay around to reproduce happy shooting!! I can barely wait to get out myself!!

I took some backspace home from red deer the other day and saw a field with about 50 of the buggers running around! But the field was right next to the highway! Lucky bastards!

I just got back from the trailer out at Lac Ste Anne and there are plenty of gophers out in the fields on top of the snow. I figure that their holes must be getting filled with water from the melting snow because there is still about 2' of snow in allot of fields. They are kind of dopey (still sleepy?) and not running around at all, just kinda sitting there going "WTF?". There seems to be quite a few coyotes taking advantage of the situation as well. If it's a nice sunny day it shouldn't be a waste of time going out to your favorite gopher patch in the Edmonton area right now but it'll get better in a week or two when more grass is showing through the snow.
Oh yeah, make sure that you sight in your rifle before heading out........not like me!

Gopher Down
I ran over one (by mistake ) on Country Hill Blvd in Calgary yesterday. After the snow coming tomorrow they will be out and easy to see. Going to warm up the .17hmr and 10-22 .22 tomorrow.
