Default im a waterfowl Noob...

You know.. each year ive been telling myself im going to hunt waterfowl.. and I never do. Dont get me wrong ive shot ducks on a farm pond and a goose with a longbow.

But after a comment i made on a different thread.. I had gotten a PM from a member to invite me for some goose hunting this upcoming season. Very excited. He warned me that its very addicting.

Got home from work and I had to look up some youtube vids.

found this.....

Yep, that's pretty much what it is. Many moons ago, when I first started to hunt with my current hunting partner, I took him on his first hunt on the Prairie. Pheasants, ducks, geese, partridge. He was a mountain man. Now when I want to hunt the foothills, all he can talk about is bird hunting on the flatland. Be warned...

and that was a nice day weather wise. The badder the weather, the more exciting the shoot. An early snow covering the feeding field can get downright bizzare.

Mallards are no less exciting. Back in the 70s when Beaverhill lake was full of water and fully protected, it would supply litterly swarms of Mallards/Pintails that feed in the rolling country east of Blackfoot reserve. Those were the days.
