insist on chain link, then everyone will be the same. Need more privacy, then you can fill the void with slats, some even simulate vegetation.

One of the benefits of our neighborhood is the covenant you sign with the developer and community when you buy the lot. We all have to have the same fence design. Makes it simple and it's a pleasing design.

All three neighbors, including yourself, want all three sides the same but neighbors A and B have different designs on the other two sides.......is that it?

Let them put up their own fence on the property line in whatever design they want, by them self or by a professional, and don’t pay for half of it if the three of you can’t agree. Inform them that you’ll be buying your own boards and attaching them to the the fence on the inside of your yard. They get their fence the way that they want it and you get the inside of yours all the same. Maybe they will change their tune when you mention this.

I have five neighbor’s fences along my property, one either side and three in the back......all different styles of fences. I built most of the back fence similar to one side and put additional boards on the other two sections to make the back fence all the same. I could do the same for the last side but it doesn’t really cause an issue for me.

Default Fence Building

Gain a few inches of property has been stated in a few of posts. All parties may agree at time but future owners who get a legal survey carried out have to deal with the "few inches" property encroachment. I can say this with certainty as I have dealt with neighbours on this very subject after purchase regarding a fence. My solution was to personally take down the fence and watch the neighbour complain. They could do nothing as it was legally on my property. They also rebuilt the fence at no cost to me within the property lines established by the survey. This issue started as the encroachment was never registered with the city and they were relying on an outdated survey. All I can say is buyer be ware as it could become your issue to deal with a real PITA.

All Neighbor A has to do is build it a few inches more on his property and there is nothing you can do about it. You can build your own fence beside his if it bothers you that much.
Neighbor A beat you to it and wants some privacy in his yard. I would just let it go and not fuss over it. It will do nothing but create bad blood moving forward. At the end of the day it's one side and one fence. It's nothing to get upset about...Paint it the color you want and forget about it.

Sounds like neighbor A is the problem, cheap and likely to build a sub par fence based on his pricing. I doubt he cares so much about design as he does cost. Best solution may be to suggest you will pay a disproportionate amount of a professional install on his side or the yard as long as he agrees to the design you choose. Saves him the work, gets him a nicer fence and you get a uniform set up.

Not cheap and crumby to have to do but then again a neighbor feud can get downright miserable. I did this with a neighbor and while the expense sucked it definitely de-escalated a potential situation that could have made life miserable for a long time. I consider it money well spent.

Default Thanks for all of you guys

MAsalma:

A do not want to build in his property, he wants to build in property line.

Repsol:

A want to dig the whole by himself and he did not talk to me about letter.

Steyr lexus:

Totally agreed. Even if i let it go now, later when i sell the property is going to be an issue with the new owner.

Forestrover:

Elkster:

That is definitely a solution. But A do not want to wait, he want ASAP. I had other expenses and fence is not in my plans for this year.

1) Can A build a fence in the property line without my approval?
2) Do i need to give him a written consent for the fence to be in the property line?

And this is why I prefer to have a county road dividing my property from the neighbor!
And the only time my neighbor complains about my fence, is if the cows happen to get out.
