Default Merc 4 stroke motors???

I've been looking for a used 15 HP long shaft Honda outboard for some time now....no luck, so, I guess I'm off to BP to buy there brand new Mercury. Any of you boat guys own one of these babies and how are they. Easy on gas....good for trolling, etc?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanx...

Default easier on fuel

just purchased one in a short shaft, fished for 12 to 15 hours and only burned 2 gallons of gas, the boat was loaded up with 2 adults and three small kids and everything needed to keep them all happy. Plenty of range while trolling as well, with the GPS as low as 0.03 kph and as fast as 32 kph

If you are still looking for a 15 hp long leg there is a Honda with electric start for $2200 listed on buysell.com Calgary. I have also been looking but they are not coming up for sale in Edmonton.

I went to look at that one. He has it listed as a 97 (he doesn't have the manual, so he says) and we put the serial # in the blue book, turns out this motor is a 95. Buddy wants way to much money for it. I sold a Honda 95 short leg (exactly the same) for $1500. When you try to talk price with the guy, he gets offensive and a little ignorant. Good luck to him if he thinks he'll get $2200 for that.

Thanx for the heads up anyways!

Here is another 15 hp Honda for sale 2 hours north of Edmonton. I talked to the guy and he said it was a 2000 model and never used. I'm not sure it still for sale. He said he could drop the price to $2500 and deliver it to Edmonton but I declined. I agree Honda makes a very good motor but if I could spend $500 more on new Merc and get a full warranty it doesn't make sense to me to buy the used Honda.
I just picked up an older 2 stroke to last the year but I'm still looking for a 15 long, 4 stroke with electric start.

here is the link to the Honda

Roots, I'll keep an eye out for you. I think I'm going with the new merc.
G'luck in finding your motor!

Default 15 hp

i'm not sure about the 15hp but many of mercury's motors are actually tohatsu motors, they are the exact same thing, i believe they also make motors for nissan, we bought a tohatsu this spring because it is the same thing as mercury and about 2/3 of the price, just a thought.

Yep, those motors are pretty SWEET. My buddy bought a 18hp out of Edmonton for $2750.00 late this Winter ! Deadly quiet, powerful and 'freakishly' good on gas.

Cheers,
