I Posted photos of the build also. Please help
Having the AB brown registration slip that shows the serial number proving that a trailer has been previously registered in AB at one time seems to be the key. Without this, there is two categories of trailers - utility and other, and an inspection has to be done with a VIN number put on by a government inspector. Utility is something around $100 or less. About two years ago, the "other" class was $400 and may be more now. I bought a boat & trailer in BC that had not been registered in AB previously but the trailer did have a mfger serial number on it. It was going to cost me $400 and change to get it registered in AB so I sold it in BC - never again to buy any vehicle from out of province that needs to be registered in AB. Since your trailer has already been registered in AB, you can "probably" change the "Prowler" to "utility" at the registry - just as one can change the color category to account for a new paint job since last registered. The operative word being "probably" as sometimes it depends on who you are dealing with at the registry.

Alberta law has changed to correspond with the rest of Canada in regards to trailer licencing and registration. Any new trailer requires the red tape and inspection, and you better have the right plates on the right trailer...trust me I know.

Done this before but I have also built my own trailer - made one mistake, I put two 7000lbs axles under it and now its considered commercial or something and the inspection is going to 400$!
Laws changed since I believe a few years ago. Have to have legit inspections and proper identification.

Just out of curiosity.. How do you determine the GVWR of a trailer like this?

I had a real similar question. If a trailer you own has a GVWR of say 4000 lbs (2000 per axle)

Could you replace the axles (2500 per) and get the GVWR changed to 5000 lbs?
