How is it disrespectful ??? He accepted it, it’s HIS medal and it was tossed to a fan not spit on, stept on or ****ed on. You guys may not like what he did but it was his choice, he played his heart out and came up a little short this time it is what it is. Hell read stories of lord Stanley’s cup lol found at the bottom of a pool, left in a cab, left at a party, completely caved in etc etc etc

He didn’t deserve the medal nor the C on his jersey.

I played competitive hockey all my life..."triple A" all the way including the Macs
Tournament in Calgary and a couple of WHL camps that I was invited to...All the way up through my ranks, I was so proud of what my team recieved, whether it was Gold, Silver or Bronze...and never did I want to promote unsportsmanship and thank god my parents taught me better. Yup...he screwed up and did not handle it very well but we all screw up at some point in our lives....and too, he will grow up and move on as well

That is why Sweden will never be a world hockey force.

This is the result of everyone getting a trophy. Don’t know what the worth of working for something is.

I think it was a very emotional game and the player involved was young. Not worth talking about.

Sort of like golfers throwing a club after a bad shot or like sporting shooter selling their guns and quitting the sport or a bad score only to buy another gun later. Some invest too much emotion in a game that should be fun.

Default World junior Swedish captain

He should be ashamed of himself. He was an embarrassment to his team and country.

Regardless of justification for his actions, it may take him a few years to understand how he truly Faw&&&ed himself by doing what he did.

Best thing that he could have had happen to him, was his coach grabbing him by the scruff and hauling him up there to find his metal.

I'm sure any future coach would love to have that drama queen in their dressing room.

Did I miss something? How did you come to the conclusion that Sweden is not a world hockey force?

2 junior wins in the last 17 years.

Stop it. You’re embarrassing yourself.

Bunch of slobs could all use some haircuts. Captain of any sport doesn't throw a medal into the crowd then stand there and cry about it.

So I just reviewed the annual Flames thread. Didn't see any huge uproar about the head coach losing it and throwing his stick during a PRACTICE the other day, Why is that? This kid just lost one of the most important games of his young life. Emotions were high and everyone is crucifying him. Yet a head coach in the NHL loses his temper and throws a stick 15 rows into the stands during a midseason practice following a win and people are ok with it? Odd

He is 19 years old, hardly a little kid prone to temper tantrums. He won’t get any coddling from me and I doubt that he’ll get any from his opponents in the NHL. I’ll bet that he’s gonna have his nose rubbed in it for a long time.

It’s a lot easier to make a NHL team these days with 32 teams. There are no true superstars like there used to be, and there are no franchise players anymore either. Who ever pays the most bucks is where I will play is the mentality nowadays.

Kind of comparing apples and hubcaps there partner. Coaches railing at their players for a poor work attitude at a closed, private, non televised practice....and an award ceremony at an international tournament. I'm personally not a fan of screaming motivational speeches, with spear chucking...but the interviewed players weren't asking for a 'safe space work environmnet', and they sure went out and played those nasty ignorant dirty hateful Ducks and beat them. So it's a private vs a public matter.

I think what is being said it that we are all guilty of doing something that when we look back at could have been handled differently, yes, all of us.

Totally agree with that, and so would the arresting officers.

Hahaha!! I think the kid made a brilliant move. Look how many people are focused on him instead of the outcome of a well played game. Just sayin'...

And for the record, yes I do think it was poor sportsmanship.
