People living on other's suffering
this crap annoys me so much, taking advantage of people suffering from loss is about as low as you can get without actually hitting someone in the face with a baseball bat.
When I see:
I am a spiritual medium , I communicate with those who have crossed over, both people and animals. I am blessed with the wonderful gift of being able to help people reconnect with deceased loved ones. I offer in person readings at my home in....
all I see is someone laughing when they take money from someone in pain. This particular person actually said they were a 'Certified Spiritual Medium'.
What a steaming crock of feces.
I am not impressed with these leeches on Facebook. Talk about a scam that should be reported to the RCMP

I know it seems outside the realm of reality and I was a skeptic at one time. There are mediums out there and it is scary the things they know that seem impossible and defy logic. I would go more into depth of examples but unless you experience it, you will never understand. The good ones don’t want money. They get the satisfaction of helping other people.

People need to feel well all fuzzy and warm inside and reach out to get it...sad but true some believe in nonsense, I can give other examples but would start a war here...now pass the bucket eh!

Sorry Ken. I could not resist. Google The Home of Olm in Calgary.
Then check out private readings under Services. All I can say is WTF?

A sucker born every minute or a fool and his money are soon parted. Take enough stabs in the dark and you eventually hit pay dirt.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_reading
Having said that, some cold readers don't even know they're doing it, so they don't think they're scamming and are unaware of their subconscious perceptions.
I used to read palms (read a few palmistry books and followed the directions). I thought I was good until I realized I was picking up on people's signals, as well as telling them what they wanted to hear. It was all fun and games until I read a woman's palm who had recent stitches on her wrists as well as older scarring. She was looking to the supernatural to help her. I couldn't play the palm reading game with this desperate person, and gently urged her towards counselling, etc. I haven't read a palm since.
These people sometimes provide comfort to their clients, in much the same way as religions or medical placebo's work. I think providing comfort is ok, but I have a problem with non-fact based "solutions".

I was narrow minded and judgemental like some till I experienced it first hand, not once, but twice. It shakes you to the core when you experience it. I was not even the reason for being there, I was there both times to help a family.
Some do not charge for their services in certain situations.
I will say though, a couple of others I dealt with for the same family were hokey!

I should have stated this as well. There are definitely hokey and crooked people out there that would take advantage of other people's grieving. Unfortunately these people exist in all areas of life.
I also do not see an issue for mediums charging people for their services. People monopolize on physical, mental, social and all sorts of other skills all the time so why not here.

And some churches get rich by telling a story about a man that can walk on water and rose from the dead.
Religion and spiritual beliefs are the biggest scams going.
It’s all in what one believes.

I agree 100% , some saleamen sell material goods, others sell beliefs, with the right marketing, people will buy pretty much anything. The best con men make millions off of people that can't even effort to purchase what they are selling.

Some veterinarians
My elderly aunt spent over $10,000 on her 15 year old cocker spaniel for blood transfusions and cancer treatments before my niece found out and stopped it.

I think you would have to compare it to the liquor store owner rather than the booze. We live in a free country. Who are we to dictate what people want to spend their money on.

I think that we humans are very glitchy creatures and always were, it's just a side effect of developing a brain. Some learned to exploit various critical vulnerabilities and thrive by easing feeling of guilt, dishing out false hope or making people feel morally superior - shamans, cult leaders, psychics, "green" activists, vegan/PETA prophets and all sorts of politicians. Some people want to be fooled. It will never ever go away.

10k would be alot of cocker spaniels. She could have upgraded to a decent horse for that kinda dough...
