Default Best bone saw

Looking for a bone saw for splitting a moose or elk. Chain saw is not an option considering where my daughter and I are going moose hunting. I have seen a couple of nice looking saws but the handles were pretty fragile looking. What is out there that you have used which will stand up to rugged use? Also effective in splitting the spine. Check out the Wyoming II saws. They take down and have a carry pouch. We have used one for years. New blades are readily available when needed.

Default Compact Gerber

I have a Compact Gerber, that I carry on my belt behind me, it can be assembled and disassembled in a minute.

Super compact, ultra light and very affordable and gets the job done in a hurry, goes thru a moose's spine with ease!

This is it

Have one as well and they work good. I don't like the handle much and wish it was a couple inches longer.

For large animal Stanley multi- purpose fine finish (11TPI) saw works perfect. Very compact and light. For deer size game - Gerber folding saw.

I also have used a Wyoming Saw for a decade or two, with no complaints.

It would work so good but the coarsest FatMax saw you can get is the ticket. It is very stiff so can cut in both directions and the blade height ensures a straight cut. Split the back half of a moose in 5 mins, the front in 10 (has to be hanging first).

For the price, if you wreck or lose it, you don't cry.
