Default Individual draw priority when applying as a group question

When applying for draws I put in my buddy and myself as a group. I 999'd our draws. Noticed it costs the same for 1 person as it does for the whole group. My Priority will increase. Does his priority increase when applying this way?

The only thing to watch out for is the group priority adjusts to the lowest priority. So if you are a priority 4 and your buddy is a priority 1 and you put in as a group... You both become a 2

^^ false, all 4 group members can have a different priority and all gain one point accordingly.

Negative.

When upping priority it does just that...you never actually LOSE priority.

BUT if you try to draw as a group the lowest priority applies for the group...but if you are not drawn, then everyone in the group just gains a priority point for the following year.

In your scenario...if you and your buddy aren’t drawn, he becomes a 2 and you become a 5...BUT your group priority for that year of draws was a 1.

I was thinking that they would be losing money by having up to 4 guys getting draw applications for the price of one doing it this way?

It makes the draws even cheaper...it’s how we do our walleye draws.

Some guys have steam pouring out of their ears reading this

Well not that I'm worried about the $30 bucks it cost me to 999 all my sons draws this year but are you saying that a person can indeed increase priority for 2 people by 999ing a group entry and only pay for one draw?

Yup, you can have up to to 4 people in your group per draw code...1 fee for the group, not all have to pay individually.

This is how we do it as well - we 999 in larger blocks, and when it comes time to pull exercise the priority, we do it in smaller blocks or as individuals, so we don't unnecessarily burn priority.

Of course, it depends on how animals you need to feed the hordes that year.

x3 there are 4 slots use them. also if we are trying for a tag but it's not a 100% chance then we do separate to increase the odds.

When it comes time to draw, can you then put in separately? Say four people put in for a mulie draw that is a 7, so they group apply for a few years to "999" then one guy got in an argument about a woman with the others and decides not to put into a group application, this wont affect his priority or the others will it?

FYI- I haven't had an argument with a group of draw applicants either I am just trying to come up with a scenario that would seem kind of accurate now a days.

Priority is assigned to your WIN, based on your draw history, it has nothing to do with whether you applied as an individual or as a group in the past.

I hunt every year with a pocket full a tags....General WT,MD,elk,WT supps,bear,moose archery....game birds,coyotes.....
If I hunted "anymore" I couldn't hold down a job to afford all the tags.😝

I have always used group application when we r 999ing. Saves a few bucks and time. And yes everyone’s priority stays separate.

999 as a group to save money.

Apply for the actual tags separately to increase odds of getting one. Hunt together and share the meat.
