By my calculations the shoot is now full.
If there are any folks still interested in attending we will put you in a reserve list if some of the other participants are unable to attend.
Send a PM to Dick284 and myself if you are interested.

No worries, there was one free spot so you are both in.

What kind of distances can be expected at this shoot. Not specific ranges just a max and min kind of thing

10-20yard min to 350-400yard max if I recall.

Just curious, how many rounds of ammo would be sufficient to bring for this shoot?

24 rounds to complete the course of fire.
Might need more if a tie.

Usually there is a long range competition on an antelope where there is a pot for the first guy to ring the kill gong.
I would say bring 2 boxes (40 rounds) and you will be good.

Due to the overwhelming response there has been for this. Likely all the festivities will begin 30 mins sooner on the Saturday....may consider having a group that arrives Friday night shoot a couple of the events. Will sort it all out when Dick284 returns from holidays.

Sure is nice that there are a few rifle ranges left for such events...

Here is where we sit as of this morning.
We are over compliment by 6 shooters.
I really have a hard time saying no, especially where a youth shooter is involved.
We will start shooting at 7:30 sharp!
Those shooters coming out Friday afternoon to early evening will have the opportunity of shooting at least 1 event that night!
With this many shooters coming out we will have to stay on task big time on Saturday, so I apologize in advance if sometimes things get a bit pushed along.
Lunch will be taken at your own timing as your turn progresses, in other words you take your lunch when you are waiting for your turn.
Come sighted in!
Ranges are 25yds to 400yds.
Come prepared to take your turn scoring, pulling, and even fixing targets.
Those who have been at this event know what it is like.
We've got quite a few new faces coming so if I miss a question on the board please chime in, and answer it.
And last:
The antelope, may or may not be done, it all depends how early we wrap up.
It could be shot on Sunday, but I know if that happened last year, I'd surely been still intoxicated enough to not be fit to shoot on the range.

Im bringing a 'first timer' as well with me.
my wby is still with Dr. R Smith, so my offer still stands to surrender my spot if a junior needs a slot or comes last minute, Id be just as happy coaching them, helping the rangers, making burgers or pulling rope.
last year i finished fourth (or first looser depending how you look at it) and that will probly be my highmark.

Finishing 4th hardly makes you a looser. But if ya wanna flip pucks, that's all good too.

I can lend you either a custom RH Carl Gustav in 270win with a nice Leupold (was my late fathers) or a Rossi ranch hand in 44 mag open irons full stock if you like....if it was my pick I would take the .270
2 boxes of the Hornady Custom 130gr SST bullets and you are good to go! Sighted in on and it loves these factory rounds.
The coyote target might be tough with the Rossi

A .44mag ranch hand???? how gentlemanly of you. Kind of like going into a duel and the other guy has a sling shot......
Roger, take the Gustav.

the coyote is tough with a regular caliber and any rifle!
thanks for the offer, LC, but Im probably gonna take the wifes mark5 in 257..its the same gun, without the rusted stainless, scars, scrapes and marks from leaning on the truck seat.
well, almost the same...

I wasn't going to let you off with that lame old excuse , "I can't go to the rifle rodeo because I have no rifle".....I got you covered!

It's great to see the commraderie, I sure am looking forward to it.
If there is anyone around Calgary or somewhere between Calgary and DV in need of a ride I will be leaving on the Friday around 1. Lots of roomin the crew cab.

We're gonna convoy out with the campers on Thursday. Once again, the south looks like it will be well represented. Looked forward to hooking up with you FAV. What will you be shooting? I'm thinking my 700 LSS in 7-08....120gr Pro-Hunters for me. The rainbow bullets. Just in case, throw your shotgun and some rimfires in the truck, you never know what Dick might cook up.

Thursday hey, well work will probably have me at my desk til noon on Friday and then zip up there, no trailer will make for a quicker trip!
Going to shot my cheap POS Savage Axis chambered in 308 Win. Shooting 165 gr SGK being pushed by H4895. The boy is shooting my old Ruger in 270 Win, 110gr Horndady VMax bullets pushed by a reduced load of H4895, going to switch him to ProHunters before hunting season. I bought some of the VMax for him to shoot gophers with.
I have lots of room in the truck so I will toss in a couple extra guns as well. I should bring my bow too, I think I am more confident in my ability with that out to 40 yards then I am with the rifle
Now if I could just find some bloody time to shoot before then I will be a happy guy! Going to buy a range membership close to home next year I think even if it is pricey.
I need a little patch of heaven with a range out my front door.

Cheese cake you bastard. How can we possibly match that? How's about a sunshine salad? You know.... the one with all the fruity things inside. Gotta talk to Nicky, see how we can best that.
