Where does CWD come from? Where does this originate? Why haven't we heard about this before if it's so deadly? Were deer populations infected with this in the last century? 1800's? How about early 1900's? People have been hunting whitetail deer and other ungulates since the early days of expansion westward. from what I've read, there's no mention of this disease in any literature I could find. I'm skeptical..

www.cwd-info.org

Believed to be a species to species transfer of scrappie to deer during feeding trials in Colorado in the '60's. Or its is a natural TSE like Creutzfelt Jacobs Disease in humans, scrappie in sheep and BSE in cattle.

Been known about and identified as a TSE in the '70's.

Be skeptical all you want but don't over look actual science. Tons of info at the link above.

Enjoy the easy ride, anti hunters. Strange to me why we seem to be doing your job for you.

Excuse me while I go puke.

Wonder if everyone knows that in 2018 you will only be called/contacted by phone or letter if your deer tests positive for CWD. If your deer tests negative you will get a note at the RELM website attached to your account. You have to log into RELM to get your negative results.

Maybe this was the practice before now but I was just made aware of it.

Interesting that there are reasons to suspect similarities to diseases contracted from eating squirrel brains... Link here.

I called and asked F&W today, if an animal can be tested for CWD without having the head.
The answer was NO.
It surprised me a bit, as I was hoping they can also be tested by submitting a part of spinal cord which is part of central nerves system.

Submitted a Muley head from 166 and was E-Mailed yesterday that it was negative. Head was picked up in Stettler around the 16th Nov. so they are still notifying by E-mail. Still have not heard from a WT delivered to Stettler a couple days later.
