.22 gopher rounds

Got a bunch of 22 shells from a buddy who didn't need them any longer. Shooting gophers, some just knocked em over while others almost blew them up! Don't know a lot about shells, ballistics etc, but would sure like some more of dem gofer blow up bullets. Wasn't worried at the time, the ole Cooey single shot would shoot anything that fit in the barrel. Now mostly using the Savage 22 Semi, what is a good shell to get the fun results?

CCI Stingers... there can be no other!

The CCI Velocitors............ nice solid thump. The Stingers are good too, but in my experience the Velocitors 'carry' much better.

I have had very good results with Remington yellow Jackets. Much beter terminal results...much less second shots required and less "crawler" problems. They are hyper velocity rounds (1500 fps) with a very frangible (explosive) hollow point bullet. They have been very accurate in several different 22 rifles I have used in and seem to feed well in semi-auto actions. The other benefit is that Remington stuff is easy to find pretty well anywhere. Have fun.

awesome on gofers.opens em right up.everytime you hit one :sounds like a wet burlap sack hittn a wall.shoot really good out of my ruger 10/22.

i used to think stingers were the best..then i tried velocitors and i thought they were money....THEN i tried cci's quick shoks....and oh my goodness!! they, imho, rule. it opens the little guys up like no other shell i have used.....i was amazed. they are very expensive....50 bucks for 500 (same as stingers i believe)....but they are amazing in the field.

I was testing almost a dozen different types of .22 ammo a few weeks ago with a buddy using our CZ's and Ruger 10/22's. We came across the CCI Quik Shok's which do wonders on gophers and turned into our ammo of choice for getting explosive results

It's a high velocity segmented hollowpoint, quite literally shreds gophers. Try them out, you won't bother with Stingers again.
