Default Tanning prices

Picked up our stuff today and got the pamphlet from Western in Edmonton. Here are some prices for tanning:
Black bear $42.00 a lin. foot
Badger $74.00
Beaver $2.50 lin. inch
Coyote $96.00
Fox $89.00
Lynx $129.00
Wolf $235.00 Case tan add $20.00
Weasel, marten, mink, muskrat and racoon $29.00

I think prices vary depending on case skinned, flat skinned, taxidermy, etc.
Our two beaver were about a hundred each, and case skinned fox and coyotes were the prices above.

How did your furs turn out? I was told after I dropped off at Western that Halfords was alot cheaper but that doesn't always mean everything

I harvested a buffalo on December 22 and it had a nice winter hide so I kept it. I phoned all around Alberta and got prices ranging from $20 to $40 (!) per square foot for tanning. Finally I found a guy in Invermere (Mountain Fur Tannery) who now has my hide and is taking care of it for $17/sq.ft. Shipped it there by bus, I'll do a road trip in June/July to go pick it up.

I fleshed it as best I could, then salted it, waited a couple days, scraped off the old salt layer and poured out all the liquids that were drawn from the hide (had it sitting in a container), then let it dry off and sprinkled again with a fresh layer of salt. Then rolled the whole thing up and stuck it in a big plastic bag and then into a cardboard box, and off it went.
