Not cooey as that’s not the type of attachment they use for barrel

Not a Cooey 84 or a H&R 58 (topper). I have both and the forearm on them looks nothing like yours.

The Cooey has a leaf spring in the forearm that locks it to the barrel and the topper has a bolt through the center to attach it to the barrel.

I just learned this.
The predecessor to the Topper ( The Pardner) did have a forearm with an insert like that, but the shape of that forearm was very different.

Since there was overlap between the production of the two models it could be that early production Toppers did use that insert.

I know that the predecessor to the Pardner used that insert as well but it's forearm was very tapered.
Then I remembered that I had seen that insert on a gun I restored for my sister.

It was a hardware gun Marked Nitro Express but I think it was a re-branded H&R model 1900. The two forearms look identical.

I did not mention that before because I was not sure, however, I just returned from visiting my sister and her Nitro Express does indeed have that some insert.

I had ruled out it being an H&R because I knew the later Topper forearms was held on by a screw and the earlier ones had a sharply tapered forearm.
But I did not know what the earlier models insert looked like until I checked my sister's Nitro Express.

After seeing that I did some research that showed the Pardner used that same insert.

In short, I think you may be right.
